School Social Workers
Among the many functions that school social workers fulfill in the ConVal School District, they provide crisis interventions by responding to emergencies, family crises, and school-wide incidents. They collaborate on safety planning and post-crisis recovery.
School social workers also assist in developing appropriate behavior intervention plans and support strategies. They provide mental health support by addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief and work with students facing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
School social workers act as student advocates by ensuring that students' rights and needs are met in the school environment. They connect families with community resources (e.g., food, housing, healthcare) and facilitate communication between home and school. They coordinate with outside agencies for student and family support and bring external services into schools when appropriate.
