Homeschooling in New Hampshire is considered an alternative to attendance at a public or private school. It is considered an individualized form of instruction that is governed by Chapter 279:2 of the New Hampshire Education Laws (2021-2022).
- Eligibility: A parent is eligible under the Administrative Rules Ed 315 (2023) to establish a home education program for a child between 6 and 18 years of age.
- Compulsory Attendance: The state has specific attendance requirements for children between the ages of 6 and 18 who are receiving a home education.
- Notification: Parents are required to submit a one-time notification to the local school district when establishing a home education program
- Subjects to Teach: Parents must ensure they teach specific subjects, including language arts, mathematics, science, government, history, health, the history of New Hampshire and US constitutions, as well as art and music appreciation.
- Assessment Requirements: The state has specific evaluation and assessment requirements for homeschooled students.
