Leadership
Leadership Has Started
Nov. 2012 - Leadership has met a few times, and we have had some great work around October' Drug Free Red Ribbon Week. Now we are starting to put together PSAs around famous inspirational groups.
Each grade level team is working on coming up with a PSA for our morning news show that will encourage students in their grade level to be themselves, work hard or think of others. When they are completed, we will post them here.
Oct. 2012 - We are looking forward to starting some great work with Leadership this year. School Spirit, Community Service, Bullying and other issues are all on the agenda.
Student Congress Elections were recently held, and our team is coming together. We are going to be getting in the swing of things after NECAP testing. More info to come!
Busy With the Busses
The Bus Subgroup in Leadership has been working hard to find out what issues are on the GBS busses. They have surveyed both the bus drivers and the GBS students to see what issues there are, from both perspectives. The next step is to compile and analyze all of the data to see what patterns emerge. As this info becomes available, we will post it on the website, and figure out ways to address the common problems!
Planning
Leadership Helps New GBS Bobcats
Leadership group has been working hard to make new students feel welcome, and transition smoothly.
This subgroup has been hard at work devising a plan to institute a buddy system that pairs friendly GBS students with new students. As part of the planning, they interviewed students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades that were new this year. They have also been working closely with Ms. Gourlay, our counselor, to see what is already in place.

Here they are, hard at work!
In the coming weeks, they will be establishing a bank of buddies, several at each grade level, who will be trained by them to be an effective and supportive help to new students.
