'91 Alumna Rebekah Brooks Succeeds In Jewelry

'08 Alumn to Perform With A Capella Group on January 19

On January 19, Matt Fernald (Class of '08) will return to Peterborough to perform with the Amherst College Zumbyes (pronounced "zoom-byes") in their "New Hampshire Winter Jam."
The Zumbyes are Amherst College's oldest a cappella group with a history of entertaining audiences of all ages dating back nearly 60 years. In 2007, the Zumbyes finished third in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella at Lincoln Center in New York City. In 2011, they won the collegiate division of the “Together in Song” competition in Springfield, MA. Matt is the Tenor I of the group.

'07 ConVal Grad Publishes First In A Series Of Fantasy Novels

ConVal alumna Celia Jarest (Class of '07) has just published her first fantasy novel, entitled "Bloodlines: The Medallion Chronicles."
The novel takes place on the planet Yugerith where the tyrant Goddess Zathiria rules with brutal force. A young heroine from the planet's southern farmlands unsuspectingly finds a magic object. The Medallion introduces her into a world filled with wizards, magic, and dragons as she discovers that she alone has the power to overthrow Zathiria and free Yugerith.
An introductory short story, "The Medallion Chronicles: Small Beginnings," is available as a free ebook download from Amazon's Kindle store.
Wentworth Institute of Technology Freshmen Forzese and Nolet (Class of '11) Launch Portable Speaker Invention

Dillon Forzese and Eric Nolet (ConVal Class of '11) have been given the opportunity to bring "Jimmy," the portable speaker they first invented in high school, to market.
They have received a $5,000 award from the Achievement Program at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, where they are freshmen.

Lila Trowbridge (Class of '07) A LEEP Pioneer At Clark University

Lila T. Trowbridge, of Peterborough, is one of 46 Clark University students selected to serve as a LEEP Project Pioneer—the first class of students conducting projects under LEEP (Liberal Education and Effective Practice), Clark’s model of education that combines a robust liberal arts curriculum with life-changing world and workplace experiences.
Trowbridge (ConVal Class of '07) graduated from Clark summa cum laude in May 2012 with an undergraduate degree in international development and social change and a minor in Spanish. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree tuition-free through Clark’s Accelerated B.A./Master’s Degree Program.

Former ATC Student Succeeds In UNH Civil Engineering Class

It's always good to hear from ATC program graduates, but especially so when the news comes with a success story attached. ATC teacher Karen Fabianski recently received an email from Lucas Miller (Class of '12), alerting her to a news story in the UNH Today online magazine.
A few weeks ago, Miller and a team mate had to construct a bridge out of newspapers in a Civil Engineering class: "Our group ended up winning and getting an A+ for the project. I guess all those newspaper projects that we did in your class payed off!"
