Don Jalbert, Director, Applied Technology Center
Biographical Information
Don Jalbert is a veteran educator having spent most of his career in Maine before moving to New Hampshire in 2011. After one year as Co-Director of CTE in Nashua, Don is thrilled to join the ConVal family for the 2012-13 school year.
Mr. Jalbert started his career in 1981 at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington, Maine. He taught Architectural and Mechanical Drafting for five years. Don also coached golf, wrestling and softball for the Cougars. During his tenure the wrestling team won two state championships.
In 1986, Don moved to Belfast Maine and his first administrative role as Director of the Region 7 ATC. After three years, he moved to Portland and had the same job title at the Portland Arts & Technology High School. It was at PATHS that Mr. Jalbert began his involvement with SkillsUSA.
In 1991, Mr. Jalbert returned to teaching and coaching at his alma mater, Lewiston High School. For the next 20 years, Don taught classes in CAD and Pre-Engineering. In 2003, He was awarded an Honorary Engineering Degree by the University of Maine at Orono. Don also coached a variety of sports and in 2005 was named Coach of the Year in both Golf & Girl’s Lacrosse. SkillsUSA became an integral component in Mr. Jalbert’s professional life during his years at LHS/LRTC. Twice named Advisor of the Year, Don went on to serve 10 years as State Director for SkillsUSA Maine.
