What's new at Conval Food Service

My School Bucks

Welcome back everyone! Conval Food Service is happy to be serving the students of the Conval School District healthy nutritious meals for the 2013-14 school year. We've got some exciting things happening for students this year.
The big news is that you will see healthy changes in our school menus, due to tough new federal nutrition standards set by the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010. Not all of the changes will take place immediately, as they are phased in over a number of years. The focus this year is Breakfast. Some of the changes you will see this school year are:
  •  Age appropriate calorie limits
  •  Fruit and juice offered daily
  •  More whole grains
  •  Less sodium.

We are pleased to announce that three of our schools, Great Brook, Antrim Elementary and Pierce Elementary  have been selected by the New Hampshire Department of Education to participate in the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program for the 2013-14 school year. The FFVP is a federally funded program which provides all children in qualifying schools with FREE fresh fruits and vegetables, to be offered at times during the school day other than breakfast and lunchtime. It is an effective and creative way of introducing fresh fruits and veggies as healthy snack options. This is our third year participating in the FFVP. Students thoroughly enjoy the variety of fresh fruits and veggies and are excited to try new things!

Students need to fuel up with the most important meal of the day. Conval Food Service offers a Grab n' Go breakfast at Francestown, Greenfield, Hancock, Peterborough, Pierce and Temple Elementary Schools. These quick and convenient bags provide students with a nutritious breakfast meal containing 2 servings of grain and/or protein, 1 serving of fruit, 1 serving of juice and a milk. These fun packages are perfect at breakfast or snack time. Check with your child's school to see when the Grab n' Go Breakfast is offered.

Breakfast is available daily at all Conval Schools.

Have a wonderful school year!
